LO2: Distribution of Radio in The Uk

how is radio disributed in the Uk (key terms like tech convergence)
use your chosen station in lo1 and discuss with examples and images to support.

Radio in the Uk , owing to technological convergence and black box technologies can be accessed through a variety of different platforms daily. Originally our only way of listening to our favourite radio station was to tune into the appropriate frequency at the time which it was being broadcasted however now it has become possible for listeners to use online applications and website 'players' to re-listen to their favourite shows in an on demand format. Web 2.0 means that we have a much more interactive interface to use when looking online making it all the more easier for listeners to access content , this much more intelligent way of searching online also means that through going online users can create a digital profile of themselves which helps online software generate favourites and suggestions based on your prior listening habits.

Having looked at Hallam FM as part of LO1 I have researched that it is broadcasted on analogue frequencies which have over the years changed hands multiple times due to different ownership however now resides with planet radio under the conglomerate Bauer Media . Hallam FM's shows are available to listen back to or live from their website (https://planetradio.co.uk/hallam/) alongside their newly refurbished mobile app which is available on IOS and Android. Hallam is also available on DAB and satellite/cable television.
HALLAM FM WEBSITE 'LISTEN LIVE'

Owing to technological convergence we have now more ways than ever before to access radio content , the new phase of the internet Web 2.0 has made it that web browsers are intelligent and remember your preferences making it easier for radio stations like Hallam to make predictions based on your previous listening habits. Web 2.0 has not only just improved our internet browsers , but the types of technology we have such as smart TVs and phones - again these allow us to download apps such as the Hallam FM one or competitions apps such as the BBC or Capital Fm so that they don't have to tune into the station or switch on the appropriate tv channel - everything is there in one place waiting to be accessed.

The websites for such radio stations always give the listener the chance to tune in on to the radio station however this shows their ability to cater for a mass target audience as younger listeners of the demographic may not have access to the traditional methods of consuming radio product therefore may prefer to do it online - visa versa , the advertisements on the actual broadcasted show promote listening on the app and catching up with missed shows which is a really effective way of boosting your listenership.
